Meetings about meetings.

It was the AGM of our Harmony Hill Craft Group today. We're always having meetings about something. I've been on the committee for four year's now and thought it was time for a fresh face.
My husband always says, "If it ain't broke don't fix it!"   But I think change is good.
The key members of the committee have all been writing reports and getting on with the business side of things, for a few weeks now, in preparation for today.

Then, after all that's out of the way, we can get on with the good stuff. It was lovely to be able to present a £400 cheque to Dorothy today, money the group has raised, for her chosen charity 'Casting for Cancer'.

 I liked the fact that we could give to a charity that she had personally benefited from.

              Then there's the Winner of the Visitor's Choice Cup voted for at the Annual Exhibition.

Things are always a bit of a blur after you've been busy concentrating on the paperwork.....  

.....then you turn around and the table is groaning with all the lovely food. 

Our ladies have other talents apart from all the craft that we do.

I have four entries for 'The Elements'....

A quilt.





Two concertina books.



A decorated tin.




A hanging.



...and every year I think I could have done better, worked harder...

Moroccan fountains.

I've finished beading the fountains today, not sure if it looks like water but I have tried to give the effect. I could go on and on with this quilt adding bits to it.
This is where I was starting to find a way of adding a fountain border to the quilt. In the end I traced the pattern from a piece of wallpaper, transferred it to the quilt and outlined the fountains with free machining.
The whole thing really 'did my head in'!!
The fountains were then painted with acrylics. I would have liked to add some more stitch detail to them but, as I said, you can go on and on!





I've beaded the centrepiece too. I imagined it was like the water bubbling up before it cascades over and into the fountain.
The china pieces - akin to the blue and white zellig tiles you see in Morocco - they were found in the fields around where I live.
That fascinates me - where did all that china come from originally? (I collected alot).




I'm putting this quilt into our exhibition - entries go in this Thursday.

Finished at last!!!

Recycling.

I decided to recycle my Christmas competition box...



....and changed it into a coffee cake!

Tin.

I covered this little tin with layers of tissue paper then glued on magazine scraps and coated it with varnish.The half of a butterfly wing came from a necklace and I coloured it with 'Sharpie' permanent pen.

I think it qualifies as an element. I looked it up here to make sure!





It made a perfect container for my rose petal beads
